element29 is in the business of discovering, developing and supplying reliable and reproducible new surface treatments for copper, and its alloys bronze and brass, that produce stunning and unique aesthetic, optical, electronic, and chemical properties.

We provide:
• copper (and copper alloy) foil or sheet with proprietary patinas (surface treatments) to artists, designers and architects
• a bespoke patination service
• research and development of copper oxide thin films for applications in sustainability technologies
• technical consultancy services in materials science & technology.
WHO WE ARE
element29 was established in 2021 by George Simon Attard in collaboration with Marie Louise Kold. George Simon is Emeritus Professor of Chemical Sciences at the University of Southampton UK and Professor at the Kemicentrum, Lunds Universitets. He has more than 25 years experience of research and development both in academia and in industry. He is the named inventor on 12 granted patents. Marie Louise Kold is an artist who has worked with the patination and etching of metals for more than 20 years.
